The UNESCO Chair on Community Media at the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad has been renewed for a further period of four years, until December 2019.
The Chair was set up in 2011 to promote community media through research, policy advocacy, capacity building, and knowledge dissemination. Led by the Chairholder, Prof. Vinod Pavarala and with the support of a core team consisting of faculty fellows, Prof. Kanchan K. Malik and Prof. Vasuki Belavadi, and research assistants from the Ph.D. programme at the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, the Chair have endeavoured to fulfil this mandate since its conception.
