Radio Mewat, a SMART initiative, is the first community radio station of Mewat, an extremely backward district in the state of Haryana. In 2011 the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting conferred on it the award of the ‘Most Sustainable Community Radio Station’ in India. Though they are supported by the NGO – SMART – sustainability still remains an issue. Program Co-ordinator Komatha speaks to us on the challenges of maintaining the station.
